The children we serve are victims of abuse, neglect, or abandonment, and their removal from home is through no fault of their own. They find temporary refuge with relatives or foster families, who are willing but often lack the resources necessary to support the child's emotional, social, and educational needs. Our Children's Needs Program steps in to bridge these gaps, ensuring that the children we represent can enjoy the safe, healthy, and joyful childhood they deserve. Cases are closely monitored for the identification of specific needs that caregivers cannot afford and other agencies do not provide, which is where our Children’s Needs Program plays a vital role.
Each case undergoes meticulous monitoring, involving essential conversations with the child and the adults involved in the case, to identify and address their specific needs. These needs may vary greatly and are highly individualized for each case. For instance, a child who has changed schools multiple times in a year may require assistance in adapting and filling educational gaps. Children who spend multiple years in the system may outgrow their clothing, necessitating new outfits. Following a traumatic event like Hurricane Ian and the COVID-19 pandemic for example, we experience a surge in funding requests for both traditional and non-traditional therapies.
We are resolute in our mission to fulfill 100% of Children’s Needs requests that adhere to our Program Guidelines. To date, we have proudly maintained our tradition of meeting 100% of submitted requests, despite the challenges posed by Hurricane Ian and the COVID 19 pandemic, both of which impacted our revenue through canceled events. This achievement is a source of great pride for us, as we understand that providing normalcy is pivotal in helping these children transcend the crises they face and move towards a more fulfilling future.
